The Tab’s Guide to Winter Hats

Baffled by what hat to buy this winter? We’ve got it covered.

It’s gone from cold to icicle forming over the last week in the ‘pool, making it necessary to throw on every layer available.

This season hats are making a bigger comeback than ever, with more styles on offer to suit everyone (no one wants to be subjected to looking like a 7 year old in a beanie hat if they don’t have to).

So we have compiled a selection of the best hat styles on offer this season, and matched them to individual face shapes, making that traumatic hat shopping experience that little bit easier…

The Beanie

I am of the opinion that only Cara Delevigne suits this style, but it is a staple classic and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. This style of hat is more tailored to a structured, thinner face. Round faced beauties beware: this is not a style for you unless you want you head to resemble a multi-coloured ball.

Angry face: compulsory

The Wide Brim Hat

Perfect for creating that glamourous ‘i’ve just stepped out of the 1970s’ Farrah Fawcett look (hairstyle not included, thankfully). It’s best to stick with dark colours with this hat, as camel can clash with your skintone easily. This saucer is perfect for a round or slightly longer face

Useful for hiding as well, apparently…

The Bobble Hat

Children of the world despair: we will be robbing your hats this season. Bobble hats are the most adorable hats ever, and suit almost any face shape (it’s the bobble: people are too busy concentrating on that). Topshop are currently doing a range of them in around 5 different colours, and I nabbed myself a green one earlier this week. Holla at me if you see a green bobble hovering over a computer in Harold Cohen.

TOPSHOP, £14

The Headband

This (sort of) hat is ideal for a round face and a structured face. Faux fur provides the most warmth, but H&M are currently offering a turban-esque for £4.99. Black can be a bit harsh with this style on paler faces, so stick with animal prints, particularly the grey cheetah style that is circulating around M&S at the moment.

New Look, £6.99 (bargain)

and finally…

The Fur Hat

You are working it sister: if you have the confidence to pull off this difficult bad boy, then forget about your face shape because you are one FABULOUS LADY.

Jane Russell you workin’ that hat guuuuuuurl
