Halloween: The Thing

Our guide to a knockout Halloween outfit that’ll make a decent profile picture for at least a month

The Tab gives you an idea on a budget… but before we go any further, Halloween is not an excuse to dress up as a slut.

After seeing the Gothic trend play a part in London Fashion Week we can thank designers like Christopher Kane who said on their website: “I love detail, especially some sort of embellishment that can transform a garment instantly. It’s always good to move out of your comfort zone each season, to learn new things and to challenge your senses.”

This year forget bunnies, ghosts and pumpkins, it’s all about things.

All you need for your costume which will cost under £2 is bin liners, tin foil and ketchup.

If Geri Halliwell did it with a tea towel, we can do it with a bin bag, girls.

Here is a step by step of how to complete your look, and turn in to… THE THING!

Step one: Put a hole in the left side of the bin bag

Step two: Take another bin bag and unfold it, flattened out, then tape it around to create shape

Step three: Poke out the back of the bin bag to create the thing tail

Step four: Add tinfoil to the tail for that embellishment – transforming garms’ huns’!

Step five: Tape two strips of tinfoil to your chest in a cross shape

Step six: Shape a mask out of tinfoil; inspired by Vogue

Coming together, ey?

Step seven: Add red lipstick. Don’t be scared to go onto your skin, the bigger the better!

Step eight: Feed your Thing

Step nine: Run away before it eats you

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
