Preview: Campfires at The Head of Steam

This coming Friday be sure to get yourself down to the Head of Steam pub to catch a night dedicated to some of the most exciting up-and-coming student bands.

There’s no smoke (or steam) without fire. And this Friday night will be no different, as quick-witted alternative indie trio Campfires take to the stage at The Head of Steam. Showcasing their own brand of infectious math rock to the Liverpudlian public, it promises to provide a taste of one of the most exciting, upcoming student bands knocking about the scene these days.

Sounding like Foals pulled This Town Needs Guns on a drunken night out and brought them home only to discover Bombay Bicycle Club waiting coyly for them in bed before engaging in a mathy ménage a trois, Campfires could surely give even the best student band a run for their money.

And with support from similarly promising Liverpool acts who are building up quite the following in the area, the upbeat indie popsters Caves and the indie-tinged post-punkers Go Fiasco, you know this is going to be a night not worth missing.

Campfires’ frontman, Chris Milnes, is well up for playing to a Liverpool crowd with comrades Caves, saying: “We are all really looking forward to it, playing with one of my best mate’s bands and playing in front of a totally new audience is always exciting.”

So if you fancy a nice, soothing break from gurning your eyes out every Friday night then The Head of Steam (situated right next to Liverpool Lime Street Station) has a whole host of great local acts playing every week for the night entitled Jon West.

You can check out Campfires’ music at their soundcloud, and hit them up on Facebook if you like what you hear.
