Till Death Threats Do Us Part

Groom makes booking mistake, then makes situation even worse

A nervous wedding day is nothing new, but one groom in Liverpool found a novel way of dealing with it.

Neil McArdle, a 36 year old from Kirkby, was due to get married in St George’s Hall, until he realised on the day that he hadn’t actually booked the location. The logical conclusion he reached was to call in a bomb threat from a telephone box, to avoid telling his fiancée the truth.

Police swiftly arrived on the scene and it was evacuated. Mr McArdle is believed to have confessed completely when they arrived, realising how his plan had blown up in his face.

Everybody loves a prank call now and then

The couple are still together. He has pleaded guilty to a lone charge of communicating false information with intent, and will be sentenced shortly.
