Men and women who perform charitable acts, such as helping an old lady cross the road, are actually more sexually appealing to the opposite sex, a recent study has found.

Researchers at Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Nottingham conducted a study that concluded such acts of kindness not only increase their own personal well being, but also dramatically increase their chances of having sex.

She doesn’t look too convinced by his charitable deeds…

The study, carried out on 32 heterosexual women and 35 heterosexual men, found both men and women favoured potential long term partners who displayed charitable characteristics.

However, when ranking partners for a one night jobby, only women still preferred men who seemed nice and selfless.

When it came to these one night wonders, men were no longer bothered whether their potential conquest seemed charitable or not.
