Magnet’s Back!

…or maybe not.

Magnet, after being gone for almost a year, was set to return this month – but plans for the re-opening fell through.

The now rather sorry looking club on Hardman Street has been empty since its closure, awaiting further investment.

Over the summer, things were looking up as the club advertised for new promoters to get involved, but this never turned into anything concrete.

All hope is not lost though, as the owner is determined to get it back up and running again. The latest plan is to try and open it up as a cooperative or even use crowfunding sites like Kickstarter to raise the money.

Magnet, after its expensive 2011 re-furbishment

Kickstarter requests donations from members of the public, but donors cannot be given financial rewards for getting involved. But surely the return of Magnet is the only reward you’d want?

Magnet has a long and rich history – it was voted the 29th best bar in the world by GQ magazine in 2007, and in its 50 years it’s seen Queen, Bob Dylan and Samuel L Jackson walk through its crimson doors.

But now the future of this Liverpool legend is looking bleak.

So if you’re still undecided about what to spend your student loan on and are feeling nostalgic, why not throw some money at Magnet.
