Rivalry turns sour as Maths pull a Luiz

The Maths football boys are renowned for getting up to some serious antics, but this one might top the lot.

On Wednesday 8th May, in the rearranged Sunday First Division title decider, Borrusia Munchengladtodomaths were playing Dentists FC; the latter were competing with Engineering Sunday for the title and needed to win against Maths to clinch the trophy.

Context: Now, it is well known that the relationship between Maths and Engineers is not particularly amicable. Games in recent years between the two sides have often been fesity affairs with both the Maths A team (Mathletico Madrid) and Engineers A team (Engineers FC) vying for dominance in the Wednesday First Division. So yesterday, Maths decided to give the Dentists a helping hand.

With 89 minutes gone on the clock and the game being drawn 2-2, the Engineers were on course to win the title. Remarkably at this same point in the game, the Borussia boys were overcome with what can only be described as a: ‘case of the Luizs’ – they all dropped to the floor. This was brought about by captain Tim ‘Tom’ Banks’s shout of: ‘lie down if you love the blues’, and the Maths boys do definitely love themselves.

With all of the Maths boys limp and lifeless on the floor, it gave Dentists the easiest of opportunities to score a third goal and clinch the Sunday Second Division title, much to the chagrin of the Engineers FC team who witnessed the events following a light training session before their massive Campus Cup final on the Thursday, which they won on penalties after drawing 2-2 AET with Medics FC.

It’s safe to say that Borussia’s antics did not get on the Dentist’s nerves.
