4,000 People Apply for £1 Houses

Surprising success for council’s £1 house scheme

| UPDATED houses £1 Liverpool city council

Over 4,000 people have signed up to Liverpool Council’s scheme, giving them the chance to bag themselves a house for £1!

20 properties are currently up for grabs, and all applicants are being invited to complete a full application form to mark the next stage in the process.

Desolate houses across the city are being sold off for £1

In order to qualify for the scheme, applicants must:

  • Live or work in Liverpool
  • Be a first time buyer
  • Be in employment

They must also agree to live in the house for five years without subletting, specify how they plan to refurb the house and work out how the renovation will be funded.

The council have announced the renovation needed on each property will cost an estimated £35,000.  They are now considering the possibility of providing short-term financial relief to help residents kick start their project.

The new home owners will be decided in June (find details at https://www.landcentury.com/).
