With the return to University, after a miserable Easter writing dissertations or avoiding revision, you might be in need of some sun. Well, we can’t give that to you – this is Liverpool – but The Tab can offer you 2 free tickets to the beach-themed Discoteca Poca on the 27th of April.

Putting on a different kind of night, Discoteca Poca has moved from the Shipping Forecast to Haus, home of Waxxx. The warehouse will offer a welcome break from the horrors of concert square, and a chance to get those Hawaiian shirts out and dance the night away in Tiki paradise.

The previous Discoteca Poca was graced by Waze and Odyssey, and this one promises the delights of Maxxi Soundsystem and Crazy P Soundsystem . Also on the bill is Phat Phil Cooper, NuNorthern Soul, KAT Records, No Fakin and Autocycle, accompanied by familiar Waxxx residents Allen & Hutch.

The event page promises “summer vibes / grooves by our DJ’s, fit cocktails, them flowery things you put around your neck, (garlands I am told) loud Hawaiian shirts, massive palm trees, balearic projections and anything else we can think of that suits the bill.” Paul Hutchinson has been running the night for over 2 years and assures The Tab that this one won’t disappoint.

Discoteca Poca describes its set as “old disco classics combined with new edits, acid soaked cosmic disco, meeting the best in non-monotonous deep house, house, and bass with a sprinkling of techno.”

Haus is quickly becoming one of the best venues in the Baltic Triangle

So if you’re in need of a real rave to beat away pre-exam blues get to 35-39 Greenland Street where Discoteca Poca will be providing some “Sunshine for your ears” (close enough!)

The Tab are running a competition for 2 free tickets to this event and all you have to do is like and share the picture on our Facebook page, which you can find here. We’ll pick a lucky winner at random.

If you want to play it safe, tickets are £11.29 and event details are on the links below.

Hope to see you there, and don’t forget your shades.
