JMU give UoL a run for their money in this year’s Varsity

Unable to hold up last year’s title, UoL lose out to JMU in this year’s Varsity by a devastating JMU: 70, UoL: 50.

This year’s home advantage to JMU gave them an overwhelming victory as they took the title as Champions.

Despite celebrating numerous BUCS wins, UoL lost to JMU

UoL defaulted in volleyball, rugby league, golf and one football match, giving JMU the head start that resulted in absolute annihilation.

UoL went on to lose several matches in hockey, basketball and rowing, victories being very few and far between.

Victories were few and far between

Speaking to The Tab, Agi Duhig, Assistant Sport Development Officer, insisted UoL’s failure was down to poor timing.

She said: “Unfortunately [it] hit us right at the wrong time at the end of a long season and we still had BUCS matches to play.

“Women’s tennis did well and women’s rugby did really well to pull it back to a draw in the dying minutes.”

Women’s Rugby Union pulled it back to get a draw

Hopefully UoL will have more success at next month’s Christie Cup in Manchester.
