Is Feminism still on the V-agenda?

Feminists on campus took to whiteboards to help spread their message around campus

When most people think of famous feminists, the first people who come to mind are probably dead, old or bloody hideous. Think Germaine Greer.

However whether you think wearing knicker-shorts to the Sydney Jones is empowering or plain embarrassing, women’s rights is still a prominent issue – for example, 1 in 5 women experiencing sexual violence from the age of 16.

The shiny new Liverpool’s Feminist Society took to the campus to see if students still thought Feminism was relevant.

Is it fair that every time a girl braves Camel Club she is accosted and manhandled? It’s not “pulling” or “banter”, it’s sexual harassment. Next time somebody grabs your arse on a night out I hope you’ll remind them of that. Go on, I dare you.

The Feminist Society were also really pleased to see lots of men getting involved:

Liverpool University builders never wolf whistle.

We even managed to capture some of our SRO candidates in on the action:

The Tab’s very own Debate editor, Catrin Richards got involved:

Let’s all remember why we are here, avoiding that essay or skipping a lecture… To get a good job. So why should women get paid less?

Take a good look at yourself. If you see somebody leeching on some paraletic fresher in the Raz, or if you hear these lines:

“That shirt looks very becoming on you, but if I were on you, I’d be coming too”

Flick them the V. (No not that one.)
