All Tied Up

Liverpool’s not expecting much this Valentine’s, a few cable ties will suffice

Erotic fiction Fifty Shades of Gray liverpool valentine's day

Liverpool has set pulses racing in the run up to Valentine’s Day by being named the 10th biggest fan of erotic fiction in the UK.

The research, compiled by U Star Novels, is based on the number of erotic books ordered per city, divided by population, to determine the ‘Sexiest Cities’ rating.

The company itself offers personalised erotica to its customers; an idea The Tab might suggest for any readers panicking about what to get that special someone this Valentine’s, especially if Smithdown’s Asda has run out of velvet roses.

Surprisingly ranked behind southern cities such as Cambridge and Bristol, the Scouse penchant for a cheeky Kindle read is thoroughly beaten out by number one Nottingham or, as it should now be called, ‘Hottingham’.

The newly named ‘Hottingham’ bought three times more erotic books than Liverpool, perhaps explaining the interesting pulling techniques witnessed in Concert Square last AU night.

Of course, for all the Liverpool students wishing to treat their loved one to something a bit more raunchy this February, E.L. James’ Fifty Shades series now has its own fan fiction, including Filthy Shades of Gray (£1.70) and Forty Shades of Pearl (£1.93) online. The Tab can’t guarantee their literary value, but the titles sound enticing enough.

Those are certainly books you don’t want to buy from Blackwells.
