The Only Way Is Up

Applications to the University of Liverpool exceed national average.

It’s official: we’re a top destination for wannabe students!

Official UCAS figures released today put applications for University of Liverpool around 7% higher than the national average.

Sixth-formers are flocking to Liverpool

The scousers are clearly still drawing people in as applications for 2013/14 have increased by 10.35% on 2012/13 compared with a mere 3.41% across all higher education sectors.

On a national level, the number of applicants aged 19 has increased by 10.5%, with the number of 18 year old applicants increasing by 2%.

However, the dramatic rise in tuition fees is still affecting applications.

Mary Curnock Cook, Chief Executive of UCAS said:

“The 2% rise in the number of 18 year old applicants, and the 10.5% increase in 19 year olds, is against a headwind of demographic change that has left the 18 year old group some 60,000 smaller than in 2009.”

The figures also show an increase in the number of international applicants.

In 2012, the University of Liverpool admitted 424 fewer UK students, marking the second consecutive year the university has admitted fewer home students.
