Aborting Abort67
Abort67 arrived uninvited on campus to exploit images of bloody, dismembered foetuses and to distress passing students.
Pro-life group Abort67 harassed students on campus during their protest in University Square earlier this month.
The notorious group have been protesting up and down the country in recent weeks, distressing students with their graphic images.
Abort67 use gigantic placards to exploit images of dismembered foetuses.
The group has a history of intimidating and harassing women entering abortion clinics, most often targeting the clinic in Brighton.
Yet in recent weeks, Abort67 have taken to protesting across university campuses.
They have not be warmly welcomed, and took to their Facebook page to express their anger. One status reads:
“Many thanks to the Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol police forces for protecting our freedom of speech. We look forward to working with you again.”
Disgusted students contacted The Tab asking us if we planned to cover Abort67’s “disgraceful showing” on campus.
The Tab contacted Andy from Abort67 regarding their protest in Liverpool. He said:
“We are an education group, not a protest group. We don’t protest abortion, we simply expose it.”
He continued:
“One guy in Liverpool attempted to pull down one of our banners. Why doesn’t he want others to see what it is he thinks a socially responsible act? If abortion can only be rationalised when hidden, perhaps it shouldn’t be legal.”
“It is actually greatly encouraging that we had so many counter demonstrators and the only victory they could claim (for example in Nottingham) was falsely stating they had chased us off campus, when in actual fact we stayed longer BECAUSE they turned up. When your opponents lie about you and about their success, you can be pretty sure you’re doing the right thing. The worst thing that could happen is for them to ignore us.”
Were you affected by Abort67’s protest or do you share their views? We’d love to know. Cameron and Lauren have given us their view, it can be read here.
