Brim-full of vintage finds, bargain buys and all round Liverpool-goodness, It’s Cohen has well and truly made its mark on the blogosphere since its launch in 2010. The third year English student behind the blog, Rebeeca Cohen, squeezes in time between blogging and studying to talk to The Tab about all things fashion and Scouse.

Hi Rebecca, for those who aren’t familiar with your blog, what’s it all about?

Fashion! It’s a style blog, but one that’s accessible: it showcases student style on a budget. However, it’s not just all outfit posts, I also write about student life in Liverpool. Really, it’s a combination of the two.

And how exactly would you summarise your style?

It definitely varies with my mood, however I love the Sixties look, so I’m big on red lipstick and winged eyeliner. Generally, I like classic shapes and colours though, you can’t go wrong! I’ve also got style crushes on the likes of Suki Waterhouse, Edie Campbell and Jameela Jamil. I want to say Alexa Chung too, but everyone says her!

Would you say living in Liverpool influences your style?

Not so much during the day, but I find myself dressing up a lot more for nights out when I’m in Liverpool. Scouse style is quite feminine for a night out, and similarly I’ve developed a penchant for big skirts, false eyelashes and lots of heels! However, I’ve not ventured as far as the Scouse Brow yet, and I don’t use rollers.

And what’s your perception of classic Scouse style?

I love it! The likes of Desperate Scousewives has generated such a negative stereotype of it all though, which isn’t fair. I love how glamorous Scouse girls are; they just don’t seem to have off days! I like the general effort the girls go to and their focus on style, whereas at home, in Essex, people are too caught up with brands and labels.

Is there anything that amuses you about it though?

Well, admittedly with my friends I sit in coffee shops and ‘Scouse Spot’. We look for rollers, Scouse Brows, maxi dresses, wedges and false eyelashes! It’s quite a good game when you’re hungover!

Getting back to your style, where are your top shopping stops in Liverpool?

Pop Boutique, Bold St.

For vintage shopping: Raiders Vintage on Renshaw Street. They have a brilliant selection that’s so well priced, during their last sale I picked up dresses for £1! Pop Boutique is always a good stop too, and the Oxfam on Bold Street is particularly good for knitwear and shoes.

What about on the High Street?

I’d say New Look is quite good for shoes, and I want to say Topshop too, but’s just so expensive! Yet, saying that, Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Urban Outfitters are all good for sale shopping. Usually, I only allow myself to shop there when the sales are on, but sometimes I can’t help it!

Finally, what’s your best shopping tip when on a student budget?

Make the most of Student Shopping Nights and similar events. When there’s an extra student discount, like 20% instead of 10%, it’s always permissible to shop! Especially when there are freebies too!
