There has been a controlled explosion at Lincoln City Hall

Lincoln is in ‘meltdown’

At approximately 2:20pm today, a bag was discovered in City Hall and deemed to be a “suspicious package”.

There is a 50 metre cordon surrounding the area, and a bomb disposal team has arrived from Chilwell, Nottingham at around 4pm to “deal with the incident quickly”.

A council statement has been released: “City Hall will not be reopening today.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We update further when possible.”

Students in halls near City Hall have been evacuated.

A controlled explosion has now been carried out.

More as we get it.
