One in 25 students at Leicester University are likely to be a victim of crime

A lot less likely to be a victim than students from De Montfort University

One in 25 students at Leicester University will be a victim of crime according to new statistics.
The Complete University Guide took the number of crimes reported from July 2015 to June 2016 per one thousand residents within student areas. These crimes include burglary, robbery and violence and sexual offences. They found Leicester University had a total score of four per cent for all crimes reported. Over two per cent of people are likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences. While burglary and robbery rates are over one per cent.
Leicester students are a lot less likely to be a victim of crime and violence and sexual offences than De Montfort students. Two years ago The Tab reported that a Leicester student had been robbed at gun point in Victoria Park. We further reported that from September 2013 to June 2014 there were 62 crimes committed on Evington Road, an average of over 6 crimes a month.
These statistics are based on all residents and not just students, the results are taken within wards or electoral divisions weighted by student population.
