Kieran Hewitt, Student Brand Ambassador for Spotify
Hi Kieran. What does your role as a brand ambassador for Spotify entail?
“The role of a Spotify SBM is largely just bringing Spotify to the things you usually do at uni. There are 60 of us, at 60 different Universities around the country. Spotify kitted us out with an awesome kit to support parties, pre-drinks and other events. The kit included an epic boom box speaker, PS4, lights, giant balloons, and an endless supply of cups and ping-pong balls, meaning beer pong is always on the table.
“If you’re throwing a party and want to use any of the kit then just drop me a message. It’s not our job to go around trying to get people to sign up to Spotify, even though students get the Premium service half-price. We do however help to create student playlists full of massive tunes, so hit up the Sound of Leicester Uni’s Spotify profile and give it a cheeky follow.”
What is Seed? And how did you become a student brand ambassador?
“Seed are a fresh young marketing company who work with loads of top brands, such as Nike, Boohoo, Budweiser, and Amazon. I heard of the Spotify SBM role via the Student Beans website. As an everyday user of Spotify, I figured it couldn’t get much better than flexible work with the best music steaming service out there.”
What shall we be on the lookout for from you this term?
“This term, Spotify are giving societies the chance to win a huge £10,000 mega-prize. The Spotify Sound Clash kicks off on the 16th of Feb. To be in with a chance of winning, all societies need to do is enter a 30-plus song playlist on the Sound Clash website.”
What are the prizes?
“The society who get the most playlist followers win an epic £5,000 cash and £5,000 worth of personalised threads from ASOS. The first five runners-up will win a sweet £2,000 package made up of £1,000 cash and £1,000 worth of personalised garms from ASOS.
“The top 50 teams win three months of Spotify premium and a £50 ASOS voucher. so basically, the first 200 teams to gain 50 followers gain three months of Spotify Premium, just like that.”
