Your new Sabb team is here!

Students vote in Michael Rubin, Jay Appleyard, Sean Kelly-Walsh and Yordan Nikolov to their exec team.

You’ve spent the last few days being asked if you’ve voted. Whether you voted for them or not these people will be running your Students’ Union for the next year.

Your SU President will be…

Michael Rubin

Campaign to get a £2 meal deal and bring in a SU loyalty card have contributed to Michael’s rise to power. The fact he has experience in student politics has no doubt also helped.

A taste of what is to come

So Michael Rubin is your new SU big wig but who will be taking care of education? The answer…YORDAN NIKOLOV

Yordan Nikolov

Part of Yordan’s campaign has been to tell students he’s going to improve the personal tutor system and enhance exam support and stress relief. Let’s hope it’s successful.

That’s half the team announced now, up next is your Engagement Officer. We only had two to choose from this year, not that it’s made the decision any easier.

Your Engagement Officer is..

Sean Kelly-Walsh

Sean has been a sabb before and knows what it’s all about, it’s probably a reason for his re-election, much the same as Michael Rubin. Over the course of the next year Sean is going to try and organise year round non-alcoholic events because not everyone likes to drink. He also wants to bring in more seating to the Square.

That’s three of the four. Finally your Experience Officer is….

Jay Appleyard

Jay will now present sports clubs and societies, look after students welfare and wellness and push for equality as well as increasing the awareness of issues facing students at Leicester. These are just a selection of his sports policies.

There already seems to be controversy though as a number of female figures within the university including, Womens’ Officer, Rachel Holland have raised concerns over the lack of female representation on the sabbatical team.

Do you think they’ll do a good job? Let us know in the comments.
