Video: dire DMU Varsity promos

It’s funny because they’re serious…..Scroll down for video

It had always been my opinion that Varsity promo videos should be about making the opposition scared, having watched these I am definitely not scared…but I may be crippled from laughter.

I’m sure many of you are aware of De Montfort University’s Womens Rugby promo video, if it has somehow escaped your eyes thus far then look no further

For me there are a number of issues with this quite frankly misguided attempt at promoting the Women’s Varsity rugby match. The first is that they can’t possibly hope to win wearing heels. I mean really? Heels are hardly scary, unless they think they’re going to run at the Leicester team using them as weapons.

The second thing wrong with the video is the, quite frankly outrageous, hair flick. Not only is it completely unnecessary and would waste game time, it isn’t exactly daunting is it? Is she hoping to remove the eye of a Leicester player?

If you thought that DMU would stop there then you are certainly wrong. The women’s hockey team have also joined the promo video bandwagon.

The first fifty-odd seconds of this video would appear to be the recording of a poorly orchestrated training session. From my sporting experiences training sessions do not strike fear in to my heart, if I’m completely honest with you the only way I would find a training session scary would be if I was a tackle bag at an All Black training session. The rest of the video consists of large quantities of milk being poured over the team…wasn’t milking a trend in January?

The third and final instalment that I have for your viewing entertainment has come from the DMU Mens Hockey Club.

I am really quite lost for words with this one….All I will say is please, please, please don’t let terrible dancing like that become an internet hit. If you want to see how to harlem shake properly then learn from the best.

I think the best thing to do would be to let Team Leicester establish who is better, on and off the pitch.
