BREAKING: Four teenagers arrested in connection with over 20 offences this weekend

Two of the teenagers were 14-years-old, while the other two were 13 and 15 respectively

West Yorkshire Police has confirmed that four male teenagers have been arrested this morning as part of an investigation looking into more than 20 offences over the weekend.

This news comes after residents reported that they were left shaken after being terrorised by machete-wielding teenagers this weekend.

The police have now confirmed that the offences committed by the teenagers in question included robberies, attempted robberies and thefts.

Two of the teenagers were 14 years old, while the other two were 13 and 15 respectively.

Stolen items have been recovered and the youths in question remain in custody while enquiries are ongoing.

Police patrols have increased in the affected areas as a result.

Inspector Andy Loftus, who heads the Leeds North West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We recognise the understandable concern that this sudden spate of incidents will have caused in the community and we have been working closely with our detective colleagues who moved swiftly to identify and arrest these suspects.

“We don’t expect to see any continuation of these incidents as a result of the action taken but we will be maintaining increased patrols of the affected areas to reassure residents and deter any further incidents.”
