Ravers in Hyde Park party until 3am and leave rubbish everywhere

Social distancing wasn’t maintained despite the recent introduction of tighter lockdown measures to other parts of West Yorkshire

Hundreds of young people attended a rave in Hyde Park last night (Friday), with participants seemingly failing to adhere to the Government’s guidelines on social distancing.

This comes shortly after the Government announced local lockdown measures for other parts West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.

Videos from Snapchat show people dancing in close proximity and a sound system blaring out loud music.

There was even a barbecue and a drinks table as well as signs directing partygoers to the “festivalzone.”

Local residents, who this morning woke up to piles of rubbish strewn about the park, said that the rave went on until 3am.

One local resident told Leeds Live: “It was clearly organised and not impromptu. There was a big sound system and hundreds of people were coming and going. I really doubt that many were from the local area.

“Glass bottles were thrown into the road and smashed.

“Great way to spread Covid-19 or what?”

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
