Let’s face it, slutty Halloween costumes are the best thing about Halloween

Now’s the time to slut it up

In the words of the Cady Heron herself: "Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it". Sure, this iconic line was first uttered back in 2005, but it still rings true today. And nobody at all (guys included) can say anything about it.

First of all, who is it that even gets to decide what is or isn't deemed "slutty" and what actions or Halloween costume earns such a derogatory title? Many people might say a person who chooses to sleep around to be worthy of being labelled slutty (although I would say maybe don't use it at all?) so I'm not exactly sure how a girls choice of costume, a literal piece of clothing, warrants the same judgement.

But perhaps the biggest reason slutty Halloween costumes are indeed ok is because boys get away with it every single year. In case you weren't aware, there's a huge double standard between girls and boys when it comes to Halloween. Lol, what a surprise.

Every year on October 31st you'll see flocks of lads in full army man, superhero and any other costumes which best shows off their "gains", usually parading themselves around any girl that'll look at them twice.

If it's acceptable for guys to flaunt themselves on Halloween (which it definitely is), why should it be any different for girls wanting to do exactly the same? This type of hypocrisy is precisely why if you want to dress "slutty" for Halloween – you absolutely should.

But in reality, a Halloween costume is pretty unimportant. Let's face it, Halloween is just another excuse to dress up like a fool, drink and have fun – and if to you having fun means to be a "slut" then so be it. And to the girls who call themselves feminists but take issue with another girl choosing to dress a certain way one night of the year, she isn't the problem. You are.
