Everything happening in Leeds this week

Your week is now sorted

It’s that time of the week again, the weekend is over, deadlines are looming and you need something to keep you motivated through the week. These are the events that you could go to this week.

Oktoberfest, Bierkeller, Monday 16th October

From Monday 16th to Monday 30th, Oktoberfest will be held at Bierkeller from 12:00 pm to 12:00 pm. ‘With fantastic bavarian decor, our resident Oompah band, regular student nights with Bavarian twist AND great food & drink offers, we make sure to get you up the benches in no time!’

The Life and Soul, The Hyde Park Book Club, Monday 16th

‘Jim’s always been a bit of a character, just like his Dad, and spends most of his life between the bookies, the pub and the football. He’s always had this lingering feeling though that he doesn’t quite fit into this world, that there’s something different about him, something wrong… Jim’s never told his story to anyone before, but tonight he’s going to tell it to you. The Life and Soul is written by Chris O’Connor, directed by Rod Dixon and produced by Red Ladder Theatre Company.’ Entry price to the public is £3 and the event is from 7:30 pm until 1o:30 pm.

Speed Dating, Parkside Tavern, Tuesday 17th

This time of year can be particularly lonely, and if you’re desperate to bring someone home for Christmas to prove to your mum that you can in fact have a relationship, this is the event for you. True love might just be around the corner. From 7:00 pm to 9:30, and last entry at 7:30, you can widen your dating pool from the odd numbers from a night out at Fruity.

Russell Brand, Leeds Town Hall, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th

‘The Rebirth tour sees him tackle issues such as parenthood while trying to unravel the matrix of the modern media, all the while dealing with politics, sex and death. It’s not as serious as it all sounds though. Brand, in his own typical fashion, makes light out of serious issues and he’ll have you thinking and laughing at the same time.’

The Cocktail Experience, Aspire, Friday 20th

‘It’s back for its third event promising 16 original concoctions for you to try out. They’re bringing together some of the finest bars in the city to mix up a series of one-off cocktails. From new arrival Neighbourhood to favourites like The Maven, Vice & Virtue and East 59th, it’s going to be an incredible night if you love cocktails.’

Sue Ryder’s Wheatfields Vintage Fair, St Chad’s Parish Centre, Saturday 21st

‘The Vintage Fair will bring in all kinds of stalls selling, vintage and retro clothes, jewellery, books, toys, vinyl, furniture, household goods and so much more. Visitors will have the opportunity to book a valuation for prized antiques with the well-known auctioneer Gary Don. A vintage hair stylist will be available and a seamstress will be on site for advice and off site bookings for clothing alterations.’ From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and there aren’t any age restrictions.

The Lady Boys of Bangkok, The Sabai Pavillion, Friday 13th – Friday 27th October

‘Elections and referendums may come and go, but in the stakes for the best party night out in town, there’s no doubt where the popular vote goes. WHO RUNS THE WORLD! is not a political question – it’s a positive celebration of the fair sex performed by 16 of Thailand’s most alluring and stunning Lady Boys at the unique specially created Thai Pavilion. Here, the audience can escape the drab greyness of everyday life and luxuriate in a colourful euphoric bubble of laughter, beauty, glitz and music.’ The entry is £21, and the age restriction is 18. It starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 11:00 pm.
