The Bonfire Night in Leeds is TONIGHT not tomorrow

The Facebook event is wrong

A Facebook event for Leeds Bonfire Night, hosted by University of Leeds Freshers 2016/2017, is advertising the wrong date, stating the fireworks display is on Saturday 5th when actually the event is this evening.

1,800 people have clicked attending on the Facebook event.

It’s unclear whether the event organisers were confused about the date, assuming it was on November 5th, but it is clear that their mistake could have ruined your Bonfire Night. So, change your plans and get out tonight if you want see any firework celebrations.

The Leeds.gov.uk website states that Bonfire events will be held tonight (Friday November 4th) at six community parks: Roundhay Park, Bramley Park, East End Park, Middleton Park, Springhead Park and Woodhouse Moor (Hyde Park).

The bonfires will start at 7pm followed by fireworks at 7:30pm.

Leeds students aren’t too happy about the confusion. Rachel commented: “Why advertise on Facebook if it’s not even true?” Whereas Alex added: “This is such a mess, my night could have been ruined!”
