Over four per cent of Leeds students are likely to be a victim of crime

We’re less likely to be a victim than Leeds Beckett and Leeds College of Art


Four and a half per cent of people at Leeds University are likely to be a victim of crime.

The Complete University Guide took the number of crimes reported from July 2015 to June 2016 per one thousand residents within student areas. These crimes include burglary, robbery and violence and sexual offences.

They found Leeds University had a total score of four and a half per cent for all crimes reported. Three per cent of people are likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences. While burglary and robbery rates are over one and a half per cent

Leeds students are less likely to be a victim of total crime and violence and sexual offences than Leeds Beckett and Leeds College of Art students. In October Leeds was disclosed as the third most burgled city in the UK and there was also a murder in Hyde Park in January.

These statistics are based on all residents and not just students, the results are taken within wards or electoral divisions weighted by student population.
