Emergency Services called after James Baillie flat catches fire

The whole block was evacuated


Fire crews have been called to James Baillie student accommodation,  North Hill Road, following a flat fire in Block D.

Two fire engines arrived shortly before 1pm to attend an emergency call that there was a fire in a flat.

Students were evacuated from Block D and surrounding blocks in the interests of safety.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire Brigade said: “There are limited details at this time as crews are still on site. There has been a flat fire, two crews were dispatched to attend the fire and both deployed hose reels to put the fire out.”

They added: “There have been no injuries. Crews remain on scene damping down the scene.”

The cause of the fire is still yet unknown and an investigation as to the cause of the fire is likely to begin.
