Hyde Park plunged into darkness

Full electricity is set to return by 7pm

The whole of Hyde Park went completely dark after a power cut hit all of LS6.

According to the National Power Grid around 1,980 homes were affected, including most of us.  Full power is expected to be back for everyone by 7pm.

In a tweet Northern Powergrid said “We’re sorry about the power cut in the Leeds area. Engineers are on their way to investigate.”

People have taken to YikYak, as all students do, referring to the crisis as the Hyde Park Apocalypse.

Northern Powergrid have also said on their website that power will not be restored until 7pm, leaving students in the stone age for nearly two hours.
