Greggs are going gluten-free

Yorkshire’s favourite bakers are on a health kick

Leeds mainstay Greggs have announced plans to introduce a gluten-free range of pasties, cakes and biscuits.

A spokesperson for the bakers said: “We are in the early stages of looking into trialling a selection of gluten-free products in some of our shops.”

This is great news for the unlucky few who cannot enjoy a hearty steak bake after a night out- especially in Leeds, where you’re never more than two minutes away from a Greggs in the city centre.

Research by the University of Nottingham revealed that one in 100 people in the UK suffer from Coeliac disease.

Second year Mechanical Engineering student Tom Infanti, who suffers from gluten intolerance,  said: “It’s good, but it’ll probably be just as expensive as other gluten-free products.”
