Speaking to The Tab, the Downing Street press office confirmed that Cameron was in Leeds, although they said they could not give out “operational details” on why he was here.

However Sky News reported Gerard Tubb confirmed the PM was present, labelling the event “propaganda”.

Cameron’s appearance comes after a Radio 4 interview this morning in which he said Muslim women who refused to learn English could face deportation.

TV camera crews turned up to catch Cameron as he left, but the PM was smuggled out through a back entrance.
