Essay season panic as Turnitin goes down
This is exactly what we did not want to happen
Duncan ClaberTurnitin, the essay submission software for most UK unis, has been experiencing technical problems.
In a tweet sent out from their support team, Turnitin said that they are experiencing problems with signing in – meaning people were not able to access their accounts to submit work.
The issues came about during the middle of essay deadline season for many universities.
Many were left incensed by the news. Second Year Politics and Parliamentary Studies student Charlotte Wilson said of the news: “Fuck Turnitin, do they not know it’s essay season?”
Second year Tom Almond added: “I’m currently refreshing Turnitin like people refresh Ticketmaster when Glastonbury tickets get released.
“Please don’t use this as an excuse to revert to physical essay submissions – I’m too lazy for that.”
At the time of publishing, Turnitin have now said their services are now back to normal, although they did not address whether we could expect further issues during deadline season.
