Leeds fresher narrowly avoids abduction

Police are appealing for information

First year Lauren Raynor-Dixon fled from an attempt to force her into a car on Sunday evening.

Lauren, currently studying Theatre Studies at Leeds Uni, was attacked when walking along Swincar Avenue in Yeadon.

The assailant is described as being an Asian male in his late twenties; wearing jeans, trainers and a navy and grey zip-up jacket.

He was driving a blue 2007 Ford Fiesta and drove along side Lauren before asking her for help.

When she approached to find out what was wrong, he asked her to get in the car. When she refused, he grabbed her and tried to force her into the vehicle.

Thankfully, she was able to get out of his grasp and ran away – narrowly avoiding being hit by a car coming the opposite direction as she fled.

Lauren told the Yorkshire Evening post: “The car had to slam its brakes on and nearly hit me.

“It was so close my hands touched the bonnet.

“I’m trying not to imagine what would have happened if I hadn’t got away.”

The Yorkshire police have appealed for anyone with information to contact the police on 101.
