Three Leeds Strip Clubs Shut By The Council

Red Leopard, Wildcats and Deep Blue have been stripped of their licenses

Three lap-dancing clubs in Leeds will close this week after the council refused to renew their license applications.

Red Leopard and Wildcats on the Headrow will be shut down, while Deep Blue on Wellington Street will also close.

The applications were rejected because of “buildings with sensitive uses” near the clubs.

The three strip clubs must close this Friday, according to the council.

Liberte and Purple Door had their licences renewed for a year, but Silks only has its license approved until next June.

The council stated sexual entertainment venues should not be located in residential, deprived or rural areas.

Tom, a second year politics student said: “It was pointless having so many so close. Maybe this will also stop the constant strip club flyering in the city centre.”

Mike, a third year English student said: “It’s a shame but I can’t say I’m surprised. At least they haven’t taken Silks.”

The council decided there could only be a maximum of four “sexual entertainment venues” in the city.
