The Brudenell Social Club Turns 100

One of Hyde Park’s oldest institutions celebrates its 100th birthday

Sometimes it’s easy to forget Hyde Park is an area steeped in history.

But this week, music venue The Brudenell Social Club marks its 100 year anniversary.

Alongside The Hyde Park Picture House, The Brudenell Social Club is one of the neighbourhood’s longest-running establishments.

Located in the heart of LS6, the communal social club is popular with students and local residents.

The venue, which regularly hosts gigs and other musical events has put on events for a variety of bands and musical outfits over the years including the Kaiser Chiefs and the Cribs.

Politics student Dami Benbow said: “Wow, I had no idea it was 100 years old, hopefully it will be giving cheap beer to students for 100 more years!”

Manager of the venue Nathan Clark said: “Our ethos is the next person stood at the end of the bar could be the next local for 10 years, we treat everyone equally”.
