What a load of rubbish!

Students face fines for leaving bins out

Residents of Hyde Park could be hit with a fine of £75 unless they put their bins away.

The council have threatened fixed penalty notices in a bid to make us keep the streets tidier.

Warning letters were sent to residents on popular student streets Regent Park Terrace and Regent Park Avenue in Hyde Park last month.

Councillor Mark Dobson, executive member for the environment, said: “This is simply a matter of common sense and courtesy.

“In some situations it can be dangerous as people are left with no choice but to walk on the road.”

But Hyde Park resident Sue Buckle thought students were to blame.

She said: “It will make people sit up and take notice. But the root of the problem is the demographic imbalance in the area. Residents don’t live there long enough to get to know the routine.”
