Bant-Sky: Graffiti Artist Makes a Mark on Campus

Is this the first piece of many for the unknown unay artist?

It’s mystery which could have us guessing all year long.

A Banksy-esque graffiti artist (AKA ‘Bant-sky’) is operating on our campus.

Leeds Uni’s answer to the world-famous street artist has spray-painted a thought-provoking stencil on a brick wall but the sketcher’s identity remains unknown.

Bant-sky’s debut statement piece, which depicts a pensive primate below the cryptic caption ‘Why believe?’ can be found on a brick wall at the end of the Clarendon Place close to the LUU building.

Here at the Tab Leeds we’re as much in the dark as you, but we’ve tried to narrow it down to a few possible suspects:

  • A zoology undergrad who got confused by their philosophy elective
  • ‘Edgy girl Leeds’ being, err, edgy
  • A disgruntled art design lecturer who protested over pay in a more creative way
  • A student who took Russell Brand’s revolution a little bit too seriously

To be continued…

Do you have any idea who Bant-sky is? Have you spotted any more of the artist’s work around campus? Let us know in the comments.
