Police detective gives as good as he takes

Can you hear them sirens coming? That’s right, police detective caught with drugs

Leeds copper Nicholas McFadden has been jailed for 23 years after he stole thousands of pounds worth of drugs the force had previously confiscated and conspired to sell them back on the streets.

Nicholas and Simon McFadden

McFadden stole huge amounts of seized drugs and conspired to sell them with his brother, making at least £600,000.

He exploited ‘slack’ procedures while working at secret evidence stores to take more than £1m of heroin, cocaine and cannabis

Leeds Crown Court heard how McFadden denied any claims of intending to sell the drugs on, but pleaded guilty to money laundering.

It was a family affair, as his wife pleaded guilty to the same crime, and his brother was found guilty of conspiring to supply.

When police raided Nicholas McFadden’s home, they found £180,000 in cash hidden around the house.

He claimed the money was stolen from a drug dealer, but when he was initially caught he told the police he’d found it stuffed in bags by the M62.

Today the case came to court, and both brothers were jailed for selling drugs, the court ruling that Nicholas “was a criminal purporting to be an officer”, and querying why he wished to indulge so heavily in champagne and sausages.

Be careful of those dealers, you never know what they really do.
