Lyddon in chair theft scandal

Killjoy subwardens threaten residents with fines after chairs go missing

Lupton isn’t the only halls in the spotlight this week as Lyddon is facing a scandal of its own.

Some of the more concerned Lyddon residents made a desperate plea for help

Students at Lyddon Hall were threatened with fines after chairs went missing from the common room.

Angry accommodation staff – who are treating the incident as suspicious – lashed out on Facebook.

Students reacted defiantly to the warning. One resident, Harry Bainbridge told The Tab: “I think someone took a couple of chairs, presumably to have people sit in their bedroom. Now they’re threatening the entire hall with a ridiculous fine. I won’t be paying it for sure.”

Our artist’s impression of what one of the chairs may or may not have probably looked like

This isn’t the first time residents have been in hot water this year.  Floods and now disappearing chairs have made Lyddon the most unlucky halls of 2013.

The Tab can announce that the chairs were safely returned on Thursday night and no fines were paid.
