Save Shaker rally on campus

Mass impromptu protest hits Union

Yesterday afternoon the University became the setting of a mass impromptu protest, with large crowds gathering outside the Union.

The Islam Channel’s Shaykh Sulaiman Ghani fronted a meeting of Muslims to unite in support of the UK Muslim Shaker Aamer’s detainment in the notorious Guantanamo bay maximum security facility.

He is being held without charge for the alleged crime of fighting alongside so-called Islamic extremists in the battle of Torra Borra against U.S. occupational forces.

Shaykh Sulaiman Ghani  told The Tab: ‘Shaker Aamar has been subject to horrific methods of torture, soon he will be there for 11 years, this is intolerable’’.

‘So far we have 27,000 names on our petition but we need 100,000 to enable the issue of bringing him home to be debated in the Commons’.
