Top tips on Valentine’s date dressing

On your way out to your big V-day date? The Tab helps you pick out a frock!

Whether you’re a single lady or crazy in love, the dilemma of what to wear on Valentine’s date is a tough one. Here at The Tab, we feel your pain, therefore here is our short but sweet guide to Valentine’s Day dressing!

Tip #1 – Don’t get too spicy

Regardless of your relationship status, Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect excuse to wear that outfit you always thought is a bit too risqué for a normal date or night out. Whilst there is nothing wrong with dressing to impress, a good rule of thumb is that if you look in the mirror and bear more than a passing resemblance to Jodie Marsh, it could be time for a rethink.

Tip #2 – pretty in pink

Embrace to day for what it is – a chance to celebrate love, romance and all things girly! Pastel colours, feminine silhouettes and delicate detailing are all perfect for today. Although she is arguably the queen of heartbreak, Lana Del Rey has romantic dressing down to a tee. Her mix of old Hollywood glamour and Americana provide the ideal inspiration for Valentine’s dressing.

Tip #3 – Don’t go overboard

The unintentional fancy dress outfit is bad at the best of times, so avoid the outlandish heart prints today. Save the Queen of Hearts look for your next Otley Run and keep things subtle.

Tip #4 (for couples only) – Co-ordinate appropriately

And appropriately is the key word. It’s cute to dress to complement each other sometimes! However, avoid matching outfits at all costs.  See below for a case in point.
