It’s official: Here are the Freshers’ Week events for each Lancaster college

It’s that time of the year again when each college has an incredible range of events for all of you incoming freshers that will guarantee you have a fun time while settling in. Regardless of your college, Freshers’ Week allows you to have the perfect fresher experience, from trying out different activities to going to Sugar and of course, making special memories with new friends. With a variety of amazing events planned by your college for Freshers’ Week, there’s plenty to get up to. So without further ado, here are the timetables for each college’s Freshers’ Week.

Bowland

Saturday 28th September: Welcome talk (4-6 pm), Karaoke (9-11 pm)

Sunday 29th September: Campus tour (every 30 minutes between 11-1 pm), Town tours (3-5 pm), Movie night with LU Film Soc (7-10 pm).

Monday 30th September: Bowland breakfast (9-11:30 am), Bar crawl (6 – till late).

Tuesday 1st October: Planting with Green Lancaster (12-1:30 pm), Just Dance, and board games (7-11 pm).

Wednesday 2nd October: LUSU Freshers’ Fair (11-5 pm), North Campus bar crawl (7-11 pm), Sugar (12:30 – till late).

Thursday 3rd October: Book club with LU Book Club (10-12 pm), Quiz and bingo (7-11 pm), archery taster with archery soc (TBC).

Friday 4th October: Mini Founder with Lonsdale (12-6 pm), Get ready with us (8-10 pm), Red vs Blue with Lonsdale (11- late).

Saturday 5th October: Pottery making with LU Craft Soc (2-4 pm).

Sunday 6th October: Woodland walk (10-12 pm), International meet and greet (2-5 pm).

County

Sunday 29th September: Welcome talk

Monday 30th September: Free breakfast, campus tour with reps, County Fest, welcome party.

Tuesday 1st October: Games event, bingo, and bar sports.

Wednesday 2nd October: LUSU Freshers’ Fair, chill evening, or North Campus bar crawl.

Thursday 3rd October: Woodland walk, international student welcome, Titans bar sports with Fylde College, Sugar with Fylde, or film night.

Friday 4th October: Alpaca Walking/Petting zoo, Quizzing with the Queens.

Saturday 5th October: Welfare event, last night out, or movie marathon.

*Specific times to be announced for County College.

Furness

Saturday 28th September: Welcome Talk (5 pm), photo on Bonny Steps (6 pm), free lasagne (7 pm), games night or movie (8 pm).

Sunday 29th September: All day town/campus tour, var sports taster (1 pm), movie or town bar crawl (7 pm).

Monday 30th September: Mixed five-a-side football (12 pm), The Great Furness Bake-Off (2 pm), Just Dance with Fylde College or movie (7 pm), Furness x Cartmel Sugar Takeover (9 pm).

Tuesday 1st October: Green Lancaster Plant Potting (3 pm), Trevaoke (8 pm).

Wednesday 2nd October: LUSU Freshers’ Fair (10:30-5 pm), International Cooking with Fylde (4 pm), Campus bar crawl (7 pm).

Thursday 3rd October: Furness goes to Grasmere (10-6 pm), Book club (7 pm), Furness x Grizedale Mint takeover (8 pm).

Friday 4th October: Bar sports taster (1 pm), Bob Ross paint-along (7 pm), Innuendo bingo (8 pm).

Saturday 5th October: Meet Guide Dogs with Fylde and Pendle (11-1 pm), ILSP and financial support workshop, (3 pm), Trev Quiz (7 pm).

Sunday 6th October: Flat Wars (2 pm), Live bands (8 pm).

Fylde

Sunday 29th September: Arrivals (8-5 pm), welcome talk (5-5:30 pm), free food (5:30-6:30 pm), mixer (9 pm- Late).

Monday 30th September: Campus tour (12-2 pm), college fair (3-4 pm), Just Dance x Furness (7-8:30 pm), Vibe bar crawl (8:30- Late).

Tuesday 1st October: Plant pot painting with Pendle (4-5:30 pm), film night (7-9 pm), pub quiz (7-8 pm).

Wednesday 2nd October: International cooking x Furness (5-6:30 pm), North Campus pub crawl (7- Late).

Thursday 3rd October: dodgeball with County (11:45-1 pm), rounders with County (1:45-3 pm), Sugar Pres (9 pm – Late).

Friday 4th October: Kahoot (7-8:30 pm), Mint x Kiwi (10-12 pm).

Saturday 5th October: Guide dogs with Furness and Pendle (11-1 pm), Cookies x Baking Soc (2-5 pm).

Grizedale

Saturday 28th September: Welcome Talk and hog roast (5 pm), Grizchella Festival (9 pm).

Sunday 29th September: Campus tour (3 pm), VIBE night with Furness (10 pm)

Monday 30th September: College day (1-4 pm), bingo (6 pm).

Tuesday 1st October: Meet your department (morning), South Campus bar crawl (8 pm).

Wednesday 2nd October: Freshers’ Fair (10-4 pm), Grizzle Quizzle and Live Band (6 pm).

Thursday 3rd October: Grizedale and Furness Mint Takeover (6 pm).

Friday 4th October: Degrees, departments, and faculties (morning), formal bar crawl, and night in Generations (6 pm).

Saturday 5th October: Cops and Robbers night at Sugar (9 pm).

Sunday 6th October: Book club with LU BookSoc (3 pm), SU event (6 pm).

Pendle

Sunday 29th September: Welcome talk (6-7 pm), Welcome party and free food event (8 pm)

Monday 30th September: Pendle Fest (11am – 3 pm), Spin and Win Pub Quiz (8 pm), VK Themed Night Out (10.30 pm)

Tuesday 1st October: Meet your major (10 am), plant pot painting with Fylde (4 pm), cultural exchange night (7 pm), campus bar crawl (8 pm)

Wednesday 2nd October: Freshers’ Fair (10-4 pm), Pendle Town Tour (12 pm), Bar Sports/Mario Kart (4- 7pm), Vibe’s Neon Bingo (8.30 pm)

Thursday 3rd October: Welfare Event (10 am); Meet Your Coursemates (12 -1 pm), Bake Off (2pm), Start A Band (3 – 5 pm), Pendle Live and SU Night Out (7.30pm)

Friday 4th October: Major Orientation (10 am), book club with LU Book Society (12 pm), crafts with LU Craft Society (2 pm), P for Pendle Night Out (8.30pm)

Saturday 5th October: Crafts with LU Potter Society (11 am), Guide Dogs (11 am), Block Olympics (12 pm – 1pm), Yoga with LU Yoga Soc (4 pm), Police and Prisoners Sugar Night (8.30 pm)

Sunday 6th October: Wellbeing collab with netball (11 am), Block Olympics Closing Ceremony (6 pm), Movie Night with LU Sober Soc (8 pm), SU event evening (8 pm)

Lonsdale

Sunday 29th September: Arrivals (9-6 pm), welcome talk (5 pm), Free welcome dinner (5:45 pm), Back to school night (11 pm – Late).

Monday 30th September: Lonnie Fest (10-1 pm), Lonnie Town safaris (1-4 pm), Lion meets Griffin: Jewellry making with Cartmel (2-4 pm), The Lion’s Den: Lock in (8 pm – Midnight), Vibe with Fylde (11 pm – Late).

Tuesday 1st October: Meet your major (10-3 pm), The Lions Hunt: Campus Scavenger Hunt (12-3 pm), Lions, Witches, and Boars: Campus bar Crawl (8 pm – Midnight), Generations (11 pm – Late).

Wednesday 2nd October: LUSU Freshers Fair (9-4 pm), Board games in the bar (11-12 pm), SCR craft event (5-7 pm), Mario kart tournament (5-7 pm), Animal Kingdom town bar crawl (9-11 pm), Sugarhouse (11 pm – Late).

Thursday 3rd October: Coffee afternoon (12-2 pm), Paws the Alcohol: mocktail event (3-5 pm), Pyjama party movie night with Cartmel (7:30 pm).

Friday 4th October: Major orientation (9-4 pm), Petting Zoo (11 – 2 pm), Mini Founders with Bowland (2-6 pm), Blue VS Red with Bowland (Midnight-Late).

Saturday 5th October: Morecambe day trip (11-2 pm), house wars (2-5 pm), Quiz with Cartmel (7-10 pm).

Sunday 6th October: End of week celebration

 

Cartmel

Saturday 28th September: Move in and welcome talk, night in the bar (7:30-late)

Sunday 29th September: Cartmel fair (11-4 pm), night in the bar/going to a bar crawl in town (7:30-late).

Monday 30th September: Speed friending (11-12:30 pm), jewellry making (2-4 pm), bar sports taster (3-5 pm), Sugar with Furness (7:30-late).

Tuesday 1st October: Department day, Scavenger hunt across campus (2-4 pm), Campus bar crawl + Vibe (8-late)

Wednesday 2nd October: Freshers Fair (9-4 pm), Public JCR meeting + free pizza (1-2:30 pm), Human bingo (3-4:30 pm), Bierkeller evening.

Thursday 3rd October: Cartmel netball charity quiz (1-3 pm), “paws the alcohol” with Lonsdale (3 pm), PJ night with a movie (7:30-10 pm), Pool exhibition match (8-11 pm).

Friday 4th October: Gardening with Edible Campus (1-2 pm), Internation Kahoot (2:30-4 pm), Quizzing with the Queens (7:30-late).

Saturday 5th October: Pastry pick-me-up (10-12 pm), Bob Ross paint (3-5 pm), Barkers big quiz (7:30-late).

Sunday 6th October: Lancaster flat fortunes (2-3:30 pm), Freshers graduation + freshers awards (7:30-late).
