Lancaster’s Christmas lights to switch on this week

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Lancaster’s Christmas celebrations and festivities will begin on Sunday 27th of November, with the annual Christmas light switch on in the city centre.

The first event of the switch-on, a charity fun run, begins at 1.30pm, starting from Cheapside, outside St Nicholas Arcade.

The Cancer Care Santa Dash will take place around the city centre, with the Samba Espirito samba band performing to support the charity runners.

The run aims to raise money to give support to people affected by cancer and bereavement in Lancaster and the surrounding areas of Barrow, Kendal, and Morecambe

Further festivities include performances by The Lancashire Hotpots, a comedy folk band, as well as The Howling Clowns, a Rock, Pop, Disco & Soul band. Also performing include acts from C&C Entertainments, as well as The Dukes, Lancaster Grand, and The Performance Studios, performing in Market Square.

And of course, Father Christmas himself will also be there to help switch on the lights!
