Lancaster under yellow weather warning as 65mph winds expected this week

The warning will last between 6am and 7pm on Wednesday 2nd November

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for 65mph winds in Lancaster on Wednesday.

The yellow warning for wind will be active between 7am and 6pm on Wednesday November 2nd. Blackpool, Fleetwood, and Morecambe are also covered by the warning, but the rest of the county will not be affected.

Coastal towns such as Morecambe are more likely to be heavily affected by high wind speeds, with the Met Office warning that large waves, transport delays, and power cuts are possible. Sudden strong gusts of wind are also possible.

The Met Office website details what to expect from a yellow weather warning for wind, saying:

  • “Some delays to road, rail, air, and ferry transport are likely
  • “Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
  • “Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • “Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • “It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts, and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves”
