Sugarhouse introduce ‘Ask for Angela’ safety protocol

Students will be taken to a safe space within the club

Lancaster University Student’s Union has launched the new safety protocol “Ask for Angela” in their nightclub, The Sugarhouse.

The nightclub is implementing the procedure to ensure guests feel safe within the nightclub.

“Ask for Angela” is an initiative originated by the Metropolitan Police alongside the Mayor of London and is in place at many bars and clubs across the country.

According to the Sugarhouse Instagram, the procedure works as follows:

Step 1: Ask a member of staff to for Angela

Step 2: The staff member will then take you to a safe space within the club

Step 3: They will listen to your needs and act accordingly

Step 4: They may investigate, give you some time to chill or get you home safe.

These new measures are brought in to build on the club’s regulations surrounding drink spiking, and after an investigation into a club, the attendee ended in an arrest.
