Trigger warning: this article contains mentions of sexual assault.
The Sugarhouse is working with the Lancaster police to identify a man who was in the venue the night before he may have been involved in a sexual assault case.
The man, who was seen on CCTV footage in the nightclub on Wednesday, February 9th, may be connected to a “serious sexual assault” of a woman in her 20s.
Police were alerted to the incident, which took place in Rylands Park, at 5:15 am on Thursday morning.
In a statement on the Lancaster Area Police Facebook, DS Adie Knowles of West CID said: “This is a very serious incident and my thoughts are very much with the victim. She is being supported by trained officers.
“We have a team of detectives working to identify the individual responsible. As part of our enquiries we urgently need to speak to the man in the CCTV still. I would urge anyone that recognises him — or the man himself — to contact the police straight away.
“I know the public will be concerned by news of this incident and I would like to reassure them that we have increased police patrols in the area as a precaution.”
If you have any information, contact the police on 101, or email [email protected] quoting log 0188 of February 10th 2022.
