LUSU to bring back the Sugarbus as soon as possible

They aim to re-introduce the SugarBus as ‘a ticketed service’

The Sugarhouse has just announced its plans to reintroduce the SugarBus for students when it’s possible to do so.

In an Instagram post, The Sugarhouse provided an update on the recently discontinued Sugarbus service, stating: “We had hoped to bring the SugarBus back as a ticketed service, but unfortunately are not able to do so just yet.”

However, they informed that their current plan is to “re-introduce the SugarBus as a ticketed service as soon as we possibly can.”

The post goes on to say: “You’ve told us that you were willing to pay for a safe mode of transport back to campus. We had therefore hoped to re-start the SugarBus with a small charge attached, ensuring the financial stability of the Sugarhouse this year.

“However, after discussions with Stagecoach over the last few weeks, they are currently unable to provide drivers for the late-night service as they are experiencing an unprecedented shortage of drivers”.

The post also addressed the student concern over the cancellation of the SugarBus, such as a petition on the Students’ Union website created by the Politics Society and endorsed by Bowland JCR, which currently has over 300 signatures.

Further updates can be expected in November when the new winter bus timetable is released.
