BREAKING: St Thomas’ Hospital locked down by ‘armed police’ following security incident

The police have now said that ‘the security alert is being stood down’


“Armed police” have been called to St Thomas’ Hospital this morning following a security incident. Lambeth Police tweeted at 10.08 am to confirm that police were “dealing with a security alert” at the hospital.

Westminster Bridge was also closed whilst police cordoned off the area to the public. According to one twitter user staff inside the hospital were also placed under lockdown, but the details of the incident were not made clear. He also stated that staff believed the incident had taken place in the South Wing, but police have not yet confirmed this.

Another Twitter user said: “St Thomas’ hospital with armed police attending. No entry to anyone”

The police have since stated the the incident has been “stood down” and that they are “in the process of removing cordons”.
