SOAS confirm their first coronavirus case

“Activities should continue as normal.”

SOAS has announced it’s first confirmed case of coronavirus on campus.

Staff have been advised by Public Health England (PHE) that the risk to others is “very low and that our activities should continue as normal.”

An email sent to SOAS students stated that “Public Health England (PHE) has confirmed that a student at SOAS has tested positive for coronavirus, the first confirmed case at SOAS.”

The student is said to have only come into contact with 7 others. The student who contracted the virus remains in self-isolation.

Although most London universities remain open, LSE has decided to “deliver all teaching” online from Monday 23rd of March onwards.

King’s College London also will remain open despite someone “in the community” testing positive with coronavirus and summer exams being cancelled due to the risk.

SOAS are also keeping their doors open to students and the perhaps contaminated seminar room is being “sanitised by a provider.”
