Police called to an incident outside Julian Markham House

‘They’re kicking off, classic Elephant and Castle’


A vehicle has been stopped and surrounded by police vehicles on the Elephant and Castle roundabout outside Julian Markham House.

According to Twitter, nearby buildings have been evacuated whilst the police investigate the suspicious vehicle.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police confirmed to The King’s Tab officers have been stood down.

“So I first noticed activity around half an hour ago,” a resident told The King’s Tab. “Everywhere between the Elephant and Castle area just outside Julian Markham was cordoned off.”

Police shut down the road outside of Julian Markham House, with no access for either vehicles or pedestrians.

One student living at Julian Markham House told The King’s Tab: “All the way from the big roundabout by the tube station all the way to Julian Markham has been blocked off. They’re kicking off, classic Elephant and Castle.”

“More police have arrived, but it seems to be calming down a bit now, people are being allowed through and they’re releasing the tape.”
