Missing King’s PHD student believed to be found dead by Met Police

Met Police are investigating the disappearance of 36-year-old PhD student Yan Sihong (闫思宏), who was reported missing on the 27th of February by her mother on Chinese website Weibo.

The King's College London student was last seen on campus by a friend on the 14th of February, where she has been an exchange student since 2016.

The Chinese Embassy in the UK have issued a statement following news that the Met Police have found a body which they believe is Yan's. The statement said:

“The embassy has been informed by police that Yan was found dead in her residence. The relevant investigation is ongoing. The embassy has informed the family and will provide assistance."

The Met Police have yet to confirm that the body, which was found in a Westminster address believed to be her London home, belongs to the missing student. As stated in the report, "[h]er next of kin have been informed. The death is being treated as non-suspicious."

Her family have asked for privacy.
